On the heels of his upcoming SOLUS LP, CharlestheFirst invites us into his mind with “For Now.” The second single off the highly-anticipated project embodies everything the budding producer is about.
CharlestheFirst pours his heart out in “For Now.”
As avid CTF fans, we know he is no stranger to bringing emotions and experiences into existence through his music. Well, he takes his storytelling to another intensity on this one. “For Now” offers up a transparent look into Charles’ time during heartbreak and the pandemic. In a similar vein as his side project, hawk., the single taps into his poetic side. He uses his own lyrics and vocals to authentically convey his message.
You will want to listen to “For Now” through headphones—trust us.
Like fog passing on an early morning, “For Now” opens gently with a soft piano arrangement. Then, Charles’ hushed vocals trickle in to narrate the storyline. Although the track doesn’t have a typical grimey CharlestheFirst drop, it floats on with a familiar, texturized, downtempo backing. His hip-hop-infused beats carry on while relatable lyrics like “You can leave me here for now, I’ll keep my head above the water for you” and “I know I’m up and down, put my phone on silent but I wish you were around” are sung throughout. Like a dried rose hanging on your wall, CharlestheFirst’s words feel wildly reminiscent.
CharlestheFirst’s emotions in “For Now” come alive in an accompanying music video.
As if a new track wasn’t enough, Charles delivers a music video coupled with the release of “For Now.” The nature-focused video features spots in and around his home of Reno and Lake Tahoe, offering yet another immersion into his biggest inspiration.
Beautiful, right? And lucky for us, last week Charles tweeted that we will be getting the album after this… ahhh! It is officially SOLUS season, people! We cannot wait!
