The Soundship is charting its course back to Buena Vista as Yahn Dawn returns September 4–6 for its second year. This time, we’re hopping on the bus, letting the wheels go round and round, and joining Pretty Lights for A Trip Thru Time that will weave the project’s past, present, and future into one cosmic weekend. With each night opening a portal into different eras of the Pretty Lights catalog, plenty of new transmissions still waiting to be decoded, and an entire community along for the ride, there’s no telling exactly where this journey will take us. One thing is for certain: we are ready to go aboard and experience this unforgettable moment for the Pretty Lights community.
Yahn Dawn Is Ready to Bend Time Once Again
Time truly does fly. As the Pretty Lights community eagerly looks ahead to the band’s return to Buena Vista for the second edition of Yahn Dawn, everything surrounding this year’s gathering suggests we’re about to travel through the cosmos and experience time in ways we haven’t quite encountered before. Prepare to board the Soundship Space Bus, because this expedition appears ready to move through the past, present, and future of Pretty Lights all at once.
This year has already felt unlike any other chapter for the Pretty Lights project. Since the return in 2023, curiosity has continued to build around the creative sorcery unfolding behind the scenes, and after plenty of patience, pieces of that larger vision are finally beginning to reveal themselves. Earlier this year, Pretty Lights released A Trip Thru Time Fantastic, introducing 15 tracks from an evolving body of work expected to eventually reach its final form at 45 tracks. Many have already become beloved staples throughout the project’s recent live era, but their official arrival has opened the door to something much bigger: the unfolding discovery of the upcoming “Constellations.” From everything we know so far, Yahn Dawn appears ready to become an important part of that transmission.
The Coordinates Have Been Revealed
This year, Yahn Dawn invites us aboard the Soundship Space Bus for a journey through the different eras of Pretty Lights. With each night of the weekend dedicated to specific albums and chapters of the project’s discography, there is something cosmically different about what awaits in Buena Vista. Since the return, unpredictability has remained part of the magic; every tour stop has carried its own surprises, interpretations, and moments that could only exist within that particular room. This time, however, the team is giving the community a rare glimpse into the coordinates before departure.
Of course, in true Pretty Lights fashion, knowing the destination doesn’t mean we know exactly how we’re getting there. The framework may be set, but there is still plenty left to uncover once the expedition begins. Expect the band to weave together the new and old as they send us through an intergalactic journey bending the boundaries of time, space, and the Pretty Lights catalog itself. Revisiting specific eras creates the opportunity to hear beloved favorites alongside potential bustouts that have yet to return to the live rotation since 2023. For others, it could finally mean experiencing songs in person that previously only surfaced during those blessed tour stops where the stars happened to align.
A Family Affair Among the Stars
The celestial energy extends far beyond the Pretty Lights sets themselves. This year’s Yahn Dawn lineup welcomes LP Giobbi with her beloved Dead House set alongside Emancipator, Gramatik, RJD2, Mikey Thunder, and Maddy O’Neal with a special Madhaus set, while Thought Process switches gears for a unique liquid drum & bass set. And no Pretty Lights gathering would feel complete without the community surrounding it. With familiar names including R!AHT, Dark City Agent, Parrott, Pants, Mithridates, Mondokoosh, and Hyperspace Sky joining the expedition, Yahn Dawn continues to feel less like another stop on the calendar and more like a true family affair.
Yahn Dawn is preparing to take things to another level, and much of the excitement comes from everything we still don’t know. There are transmissions left to decipher, new music waiting to reveal itself, old favorites potentially ready to reemerge, and countless connections that will form before the Soundship ever leaves the station. We’re ready to take A Trip Thru Time alongside the Pretty Lights band and community, bend our perception of past, present, and future, and discover what waits on the other side.
After all, sometimes the greatest discoveries happen when you stop trying to hold onto the moment and simply allow it to pass through you.
