Get in loser, we’re going dancing.
The annual summer bash Global Dance Festival made its return to the festival circuit on July 23rd & 24th. The Denver-based festival has been putting on the show for over 10 years now. Stocked full of explosive artists, and even a new House music stage, Global Dance Festival 2021 did not disappoint.

Big headliners closed out both days, including Kaskade, Excision, Zomboy, and more! The highlight of Day 1 included Doctor P & Funtcase bringing some quality 808’s from over the pond. The highlight of Day 2 was Smoakland throwing down at the Tundra stage. The festival production was sincerely off the chain, even featuring laser shows on the Bronco’s stadium exterior. The bass was so loud some attendees thought their porta-potties were getting pranked. The diverse lineup and constant mayhem of thousands of people made it feel really good to be back. (Our backs and necks did not agree.)
Day 1 – Bass so Loud Our Life Alert is Going Off
The hometown boys Said the Sky, Illenium, and fellow Sadboi Mafia member, Dabin, brought the feels to the mainstage the first day. Illenium jerseys covered the crowd as we got to hear some of his new album, Fallen Embers. Dion Timmer thrashed his hair around with the crowd to tons of new IDs at the Northern Lights stage. Tchami looked cool as ever with his shades and fresh-cut while he commanded the shufflers using only house music. And Zomboy made sure there was not a dry back around while he closed out the Northern Lights stage on Friday night.
Day 2 – Whoever Decided Tiesto into Excision Was Not Wrong
Yheti, Gryffin, or Excision. These were the choices presented to close out the second night. We had to flap our feathers really fast to catch a glimpse of each. Last Heroes and Tyro kicked off the hot summer Saturday with some spicy melodic drops. Decadon and Brondo brought their own twist to dubstep and rock music. Midnight Tyrannous melted our mind while also keeping a beat. Green Velvet unofficially hosted the dopest dance battle in the parking lot of Empower Field (don’t quote us, this was our first year). Getter made his return to playing festivals with a mixture of Terror Reid, Visceral, and classic “Inhalant Abuse era Getter. Of the Trees brought the nature-fueled experimental dubstep, even playing a song using sounds from his backyard. And during Excision, a crowd was seen headbanging on the bridge above the main stage. We found this interesting.

Overall, Global Dance Festival redeemed themselves for allowing the sky to rain 2 years prior and we thank them for fixing the weather machine so we could wiggle our bodies to great music.
Thank You Global Dance Festival 2021! See you next year!
