Monty has been dominating the Drum n’ Bass game for quite a while now. He has been on a tear the last few months, striking gold on release after release. It was only a matter of time before he was ready to unleash an EP on us. F4DE is finally out, and it is glorious.

Monty

‘1985’ shows their class once again with another top-tier release.

With Alix Perez as the label boss, it is no surprise that 1985 Music only drops quality. Riding the momentum of Drone’s Evil Sky EP, the London-based label came out swinging once again. They have taken our high expectations and blown them out of the water. Known for their exquisite selection of Drum n’ Bass & 140 bpm, the label has dipped their toes into the best of both worlds with F4DE.

Monty reinforces his status atop the Drum n’ Bass ladder, while also showing his ability to dominate the Dubstep game.

As mentioned earlier, we already know that Monty stands out as one of the top producers when it comes to Drum n’ Bass. He cemented that status on “F4DE”. The title track kicks off the EP and sets the pace for what is to come with some high-energy DnB. “SVP”, featuring Icicle is a mammoth of a tune. With an unholy growl leading us into a ferocious 172 drop, this one truly stands out. Monty then leads us to the finish line in a delightful manner, with two soulful tracks in “Whatever You Need” and “Polar Winds” featuring Visages. To no one’s surprise, the Drum n’ Bass on this album is top of the line, and Monty matched that quality to perfection with the one dubstep tune as well.

Monty is not new to the dubstep game by any means. He recently blessed us with a 30-minute 140 mix on J:Kenzo’s Rinse FM. With that being said, it is fair to expect one of his releases to most likely be Drum n’ Bass at this point. That’s what makes “Righteous” even more special. Monty came out throwing haymakers on this one, with some straight-up ignorant sound. After an intense, tension-filled build, Monty unleashes a forceful drop. It is one that naturally gets stuck in your head. Once shows are back in full swing, this tune could do some damage on a proper rig.

If you haven’t yet, do your ears a favor, and give F4DE a listen.
