The ever-so-imaginative Jade Cicada has released an incredible new EP, Lunar Fade! This four-track EP follows the release of his most recent single, ‘Frame Shift.’ Not only has he put out his first release since 2023’s riveting LP Pressure Gambit, but he’s taking Lunar Fade on the road for nine impeccably curated shows!
With a focus on clarity and simplicity, Lunar Fade represents a more refined approach to Jade Cicada’s sound production. Compared to his previous work, which involved layering sounds and combining different rhythms and textures, this new work aims to give a more polished feel. He pulled inspiration from DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations), the tools used to make music digitally.
“Using a new DAW is a huge inspiration in and of itself. New tools bring new ways of thinking and working. I just try to follow where the sounds take me,” he said. “My creative mindset was the same as it always has been: Does this feel new and fresh to me? Does this feel like a step forward in my production journey? If both those answers are yes, then it’s usually something I can feel proud of showing the world.”
Pulling influence from Sunclef’s 2011 tune ‘Droski,’ the single ‘Frame Shift” is “heavily inspired by beat scene type music of the early 2010s,” according to the producer. “I’ve been wanting to make music in that style but with a heavier bass/dance production to it for a long time and a goal of mine is to make more melodically and harmonically driven boom-bappy bangers like this one,” he said.
Break The Hold Tour
In addition to this exciting new EP, Jade Cicada is bringing on the road with his Break The Hold Tour! Spanning nine shows, including two rare festival appearances, the highly curated shows will feature visuals from the incredibly talented and creative Tennorless and Laia. Accompanying him on this tour are some of the brightest musical stars in the scene, including Eprom, Mr. Carmack, and Resonant Language, just to name a few. We can not imagine a better way to kick off 2025!
