Our experience of the intimate evening at The Black Box

From the beginning, we can feel excitement in the air as everyone settles in at The Black Box. As the clock finally reached 9pm, Ravenscoon stepped to the CDJs to welcome everyone. While giving a rundown on what to expect throughout the evening, he encouraged everyone that if they want to dance, they can or if they want to just stand and vibe, they can. Before starting to Glass Orchid, Ravenscoon gave some lore of his early career days. Sharing with the audience the early memories of when he was opening for Tiedye Ky back in 2019 to his two-day run in 2021 at The Black Box to now – about to be headlining Mission Ballroom on February 22nd this year. Fully allowing everyone in attendance to be aware that The Black Box has a special place in his heart.

Now, ready to begin the event and embark on the Glass Orchid journey!

Throughout previewing the album, Ravenscoon stopped in between each track to give a couple of minutes of insight on each track. Whether it was inspiration from Peekaboo and influences of Zeds Dead with his track “CHECKMATE” or some insider knowledge of getting some lessons from VCTRE to help build out the track “ACTIVATE.” While also sharing some funny details especially how his remix of Dream Signal came to fruition and iSorin’s day job as a dentist. We even got a special appearance from MLOTIK to come on stage with him, to perform their track “FUSE” together.

He truly was able to give everyone some fun background information on each track to take home.

He closed out the night with his “MIND (REMASTED)” sharing a fun secret for everyone in the audience on a special surprise to expect for his Mission Ballroom show. We won’t share but anticipate something to come in February. And through completing the album, as it contained a combination of heavy vibrations to more melodic wave tones, Glass Orchid ends up being an iridescent album to think upon.

Before we headed home for the evening, Ravenscoon got on to share some of the flips he had been experimenting with. Then to fully close the night, he performed a special wave set for everyone in attendance. The mind-altering and chilling atmosphere fully gives us a sonically feel-good set to lead us into the weekend.
