Good afternoon, hawk community!

This is a little different from our normal blog posts, but something we felt inclined to talk about in our current climate and aligns with the values we strive to represent. As we’re all well aware of by now, this week is election week. We wanted to talk about the importance of voting and share resources, helpful ways to be mindful of your mental health during this time, and (of course) some of our favorite music to unwind to.

First and foremost, HeadCount is a user friendly organization for voters.

HeadCount.org is an amazing resource for all things voting. Their website can help you register to vote, locate your nearest ballot dropbox, polling place, and much more. You can also reach them by phone at the election protection hotline, 866-OUR-VOTE.

Please remember that it is too late to mail in your ballots, so set up your plan to vote! And if you need a ride to the polls on November 3rd, text “LYFT” to 73179 for a free ride up to $25. Or you can take advantage of the Lyft discount code “2020VOTE” for 50% off your ride up to $10.

With that being said, we also recognize that this election can cause a fair amount of stress, anxiety, or other overwhelming feelings.

It’s important to pay attention and take care of your mental health. This could mean limiting social media consumption, reaching out to trusted family or friends, or even seeking professional help.

How Right Now can get you in touch with a number of immediate hotline crisis workers, as well as locating therapists near you, short breathing exercises, and other helpful resources.

Lastly, music can be a healing tool for many of us.

Check out the Twitter thread we started below if you’re in need of some chill music to throw on. Some great recommendations are Kasbo‘s new The Making of a Paracosm album, Chasing the Golden Hour Pt. 3 from GRiZ, and Fidget by Ivy Lab.

Please feel free to contribute any music that’s been helping you get through lately, too.
