WAKAAN has finally pulled back the curtains on what is certain to be another unforgettable event at Mulberry Mountain. The team has been working hard, curating an eclectic lineup full of label mainstays, up-and-comers, and champions of the underground. With four days of sonic spectacle to enjoy, the WAKAAN Music Festival 2024 is not one to be missed.

Liquid Diet
Amidst ever-swirling lineup rumors, one thing is for certain: a hefty serving of Liquid Stranger is always on the menu! WAKAAN Festival is the perfect place for the label head to showcase a diverse range of music. He can dive deep into a catalog from a career spanning decades for three unique sets.
In previous years, he used these sets as an opportunity to demonstrate both ends of his musical spectrum. On one end captivating fans with a “Tripped” set. A narrative of downtempo beats, and the “prettier” side of bass music. On the other, a no-holds-barred onslaught of bass and bangers from the Space Boss himself.
This year Liquid Stranger has a trick up his sleeve: the debut of Liquid Stranger b2b Zeds Dead. Teaming up with the fan-favorite Canadian duo for the first time is sure to be a monumental affair. We can only imagine what they’re cooking up.

Heavy Hitters and Heavy Bass
Fans are sure to be delighted by a lineup that delves into all corners of bass music. Zeds Dead‘s WAKAAN debut will include a solo set, but that’s only the tip of the iceberg. Subtronics returns for the first time since the inaugural 2019 event. A force of nature in his own right, his triumphant return is surely a welcoming addition.
Mainstay WAKAAN associates G-Rex and Sully will be teaming up for an electrifying performance, as will Subdocta and Zeke Beats. Barclay Crenshaw will also return for his third year, continuing to solidify his moniker as a household name. Champagne Drip, Ravenscoon, Shlump, and many other notable WAKAAN artists will surely satiate all fans of the label’s sound. Among other notable pillars of freeform bass, Of The Trees brings not one, but two sets to the mountain. The second is a coveted BLAAP set with Freddy Todd.
Back To The Roots
While the sounds of WAKAAN have always pushed the envelope in terms of sonic experimentation, they’ve always given a nod to the roots of dubstep. That is no different this year. Forebears Caspa and Rusko will be bringing plenty of old-school flavor. A 1985 Music takeover will ensure there’s no shortage of UK dubstep sounds. The legendary label boss Alix Perez will perform along with both old and new faces like Torcha, Hyroglifics, and Monty. Favorites Ternion Sound and The Widdler, among others, will also help carry the torch.

Beyond The Music
WAKAAN has always emphasized the music (it is a music festival after all), but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t so much more to offer. Workshops and panels take place throughout the week, covering an array of topics for fans to learn from, enjoy, and find a connection with themselves and each other. A wide range of vendors peddles intriguing wares, including clothing, jewelry, and art pieces.
No good music festival is complete without an emphasis on visual art, too. Eye-catching installations and interactive opportunities are dispersed throughout the grounds. This includes Soul Spin Art Gallery; a festival tradition where attendees can create their very own custom vinyl records. Live painters and performers are also present as you wander through the splendor of Mulberry Mountain. The VJs and lighting professionals also put on a show in their own right, immersing you in the performances by your favorite musical artists.

This year’s festival promises to continue building upon the foundations laid at its inaugural event in 2019. Providing a space for genuine expression and connection, the WAKAAN Festival is the perfect opportunity to unify. A place to celebrate what makes us unique, while also coming together as a community. Tie those shoelaces; soon, the mountains of Arkansas will be roused once more in a celebration of the weird and wonderful sounds of WAKAAN.
