California bass artist sumthin sumthin conveys “Trauma” on his first original track of 2020. Consistently pushing boundaries in electronic music, Conrad Woodul better known as sumthin sumthin, dives deep into a dark melodic aura with “Trauma.”

Behind the Music

When sumthin sumthin conveys “Trauma,” you can feel the true emotion of what it feels like for trauma to creep up on you. First, the build-up portrays the suspenseful uproar of what trauma can hold in your subconscious before it hits. It makes you feel as if you’ve flashed back into that exact moment in time. It’s an array of emotions because you’re not sure what’s going to come next. This is what this track exemplifies. Then, it hits you. If you’re able to understand when trauma is hitting you, you begin to just ride the wave. It is not your current reality. Halfway through the track at 1:30, this is the emotion we feel. Finally, at the end of the track, there’s a loud gasp. This closes out the feeling of suffocation that trauma can trigger.

I feel like so many people in the world go through something traumatic and the hardest thing to do is talk about it. Sometimes, someone you would least expect has gone through (or is currently going through) something extremely difficult. This is why it’s so important to be respectful of one another and live life with love and compassion.
