Skellytn Prepares Us to Enter the Cyberspace Realm

Immediately, Skellytn arranges the transfer of files and pixelates us into the massive panoramic landscape of her cyberspace development. While we float through all the digital coding and metallic elements that swarm us, we immerse ourselves into this “Hollow” space. As we watch the streaming systems bypass our bodies, we hear the angelic vocals in the distance from vocalist Bella Renee. Cautiously guiding us through the wormholes of shallowness, Renee embraces us as we enter the chaotic, massive, thundering tremors and system-frying waves. While the fracturing metallic clangs push through, we find ourselves in a greater opening of this new realm. As we come to a brief pause, we notice to further our expedition, we must enter our “Digital Consciousness.

Now, at the wall, we notice the digital wiring to insert our consciousness, allowing Skellytn’s machinery to overdrive our minds. While we plug into the network, we feel the massive rush of digital information begins to take control. The overwhelming tremors flicker through the crushing, heavy, deteriorating synths and blaring bass coursing through the nerves of the mind. Slowly surrendering our bodies to the overarching machine, we now see the empowering nature that lies in cyberspace. Until our systems override and Skellytn reminds us we are “Not Alone.

The endless possibilities that Cyberspace can deliver, we don’t want to return

As we succumb to the repetitive message alerts through the void, we feel the jolting vibrations crawl through the new exoskeleton. As the pounding basslines crush through the course, the electricity and digital artifacts heighten our abilities. Now, feeling the elevation in our stats, Skellytn continues to show us more of the “Datasphere” before we have to return. To conclude the elaborate demonstration, Skellytn reveals the final touches. The last wave is filled with sinister synths and crunching elements that display the sonorous digital environment to the fullest. It naturally encompasses the elegance within the Cyberspace realm, the heightened abilities, and the neverending possibilities if we just fully escape our minds to this new world.

Skellytn and friends put us on full throttle as we listen through the EP. From beginning to end, we embrace the catalyst of energy throughout each track to the max. Operations at Skellytn Corporation invite the listeners to fully escape into new territories that live in the digital realm. For the enjoyers of drum and bass and something thrilling to energize their day, Skellytn delivers with her latest EP!

In Conversation With Skellytn

seradopa: Well, for our Electric Hawk audience that may not be familiar with you, how have operations at The Skellytn Corporation been? It’s already been a big year for you, have you taken a moment to do an evaluation report on everything in 2024?

Skellytn: Operations at the Skellytn Corporation have ramped up substantially this year. I recently started working with a powerhouse team at Red Light Management and United Talent Agency. I’ve been consistently traveling the country touring and playing festivals, released a ton of music, and am so excited to finally launch my new EP, Cyberspace.

seradopa: How did the conversations and collaborations come together in Cyberspace? From Bella Renee, No Etiquette, and Notequal – what made these individuals special to work with for this specific project?

Skellytn: After I released my first album, Neurocomputer, in 2022, I realized that I had been creating alone with the specific intention of trying to prove myself as a DnB producer. I’ve since stepped away from that mindset, as I no longer feel the need to prove myself to anyone, which has allowed me to open up more to the collaborative process and the excitement of working together with other talented producers and vocalists.

I’m a huge fan of Bella Renee, No Etiquette, and Notequal – getting to work with them has been some of the most fun I’ve had in the studio and resulted in some of the most unique and interesting tracks in the Skellytn discography so far.

seradopa: Through Cyberpunk & Futuristic influences within your brand – what most intrigues you about these aesthetics, and how did it come together when building this EP sonically specifically?

Skellytn: The cool part about the future is that things are rapidly changing and evolving. Nothing is set in stone therefore, you can craft your future into what you want it to be. Cyberpunk as a style is so vast that it allows me to pull little influences into my music, song titles, and artwork to create a panoramic landscape for the listener.

seradopa: Did this EP come naturally for you, or have you been building and creating this for quite some time? Was there a track that took a little longer to finish than the others? What was the process of developing Cyberspace?

Skellytn w/ Bella Renee

Skellytn: I usually hold on to tracks until I can find the right label/home for them. It’s very important to work with labels who believe in my vision and allow me creative freedom.

“Hollow” is a very special song because Bella Renee and I have been wanting to collaborate on a song for many years. The stars finally aligned, and we created a hit festival banger together.

When submitting to Cyclops Recordings, I initially sent in two groups of four tracks. Jesse (Subtronics) asked me to swap around some of the tracks from each group into what ultimately became the final tracklist for Cyberspace EP, so the development process was essentially a collaboration in itself, and I couldn’t be happier with the finished product.

seradopa: As a rising name in the US within the drum and bass scene yourself, how much have you enjoyed seeing the expansion of the genre growing in the past couple of years?

Skellytn: I’m extremely thankful to all of the acts who took me on tour with them over the past three years. It’s allowed so many people to discover DnB, and it’s been great to know that I’m playing a part in expanding a scene I’m so passionate about.

seradopa: And as we come up on the yearly review for 2024, what are you noticing within the drum and bass scene that is occurring now in the states and globally?

Skellytn: In the past, I’ve heard people say, “DnB is having a moment,” but I think this year has proven it’s much more than a “moment” now. We also have so many talented tastemakers in my hometown Los Angeles scene pushing DnB, including but not limited to Dr. Apollo, Bella Renee, Reid Speed, Dela Moon, and LMNOP. Many UK DnB legends have gained massive followings in the US, and some of the biggest American DJs are even blasting DnB on main stages at major festivals.

seradopa: What is your number one Sci-Fi/Futuristic movie that is a must-watch in your personal opinion?

Skellytn: This is a TV show, but I think The Mandalorian is one of my favorites in recent years. The story of a space bounty hunter is one of the most fun and captivating worlds to dive into… and Blade Runner didn’t have Baby Yoda.

seradopa: What do you believe has been changing for the better, and what do you believe needs to be improved/changed immediately in our industry? How could we better build a supportive community within the electronic scene?

Skellytn: We need to come together as a family in the US DnB scene, supporting each other’s growth and success. Instead of trying to gatekeep or dismiss newcomers, it’s crucial we build each other up, amplify new voices, and welcome everyone to the scene that means so much to us. We all love this music, and fostering a strong community behind it is the key to expanding the genre and reaching new audiences.
