Orange County native Pax Impera and his genre-bending sound shine on his latest release, “Loud.” Popping up on radars in 2018 with his haunting rework of Flume favorite “Insane,” this up-and-coming star’s glitchy bass-heavy sound is impossible to ignore. Quickly catching the attention of none other than Zeds Dead, Pax has been featured on We Are Deadbeats and performing at the most recent chapter of Deadrocks.

Excision’s newly minted imprint, Subsidia, has been churning out stacked compilations filled with the best the underground has to offer since its conception in late September of last year. There is a place for every kind of music on this ground-breaking label, with three separate series that focus on a different genre.

Dusk is home to the most experimental of all the releases and the series that “Loud” resides on. Eliciting late-night warehouse feels, this well-balanced tune packs quite the punch with ominous vocal samples and a rhythmic bassline. Pax continues to prove that his unique sound is not to be ignored with an affinity for seamlessly blending dubstep and freeform elements.
