When two artists enter the studio with no agenda, no blueprint, and no plan — only instinct — something rare and luminous can happen. That’s exactly what unfolded when producer Abstrakt Sonance and vocalist Sosita came together for their debut collaborative EP, Barefoot On The Horizon, out now on Morii Records.
With releases on other visionary labels such as Deep, Dark & Dangerous, DUPLOC, and Sub Carbon, Abstrakt Sonance is a sonic craftsman known for his fluid, genre-blending electronic production and electrifying performances. Sosita is a vocalist and holistic practitioner whose artistry weaves together ancient sound traditions, poetry, and a deep connection to the human experience.

Infused with sacred soundscapes and thought-provoking melodies, the 5-track project fuses the raw, downtempo side of Abstrakt Sonance’s dynamic sound design with Sosita’s poetic lyricism and angelic vocals. Barefoot On The Horizon bestows upon listeners a deeply moving and transformative experience.
Rooted in spontaneity and shaped by genuine creative chemistry, the EP journeys through liminal spaces, dream states, and the quiet courage it takes to begin again. We sat down with both artists to explore the vision, the process, and the magic behind Barefoot On The Horizon. Continue reading to explore the full conversation below and listen along.

Liz Seitzinger, Electric Hawk: “What was the vision behind Barefoot On The Horizon?“
Abstrakt Sonance: “The vision of this project was just a raw and pure creation from the moment. Sosita and I got into the studio for the first time, and it was an instant cohesive vibe. All of the beats and lyrics were written on the spot, embracing the energy and vibe in the moment. I have rarely worked so smoothly and cohesively with another artist while in the studio. Flowdan, Jevon Ives, and Pav4n are the others that come to mind. Everything came up from scratch, with the input and vision from Sosita. Written and recorded on the spot, embracing the creative magic that was flowing.”
Sosita: “The main vision and conceptual framework behind the lyrics and artwork of the EP is:
an inquisitive exploration into a Daliesque landscape, where reality blurs with dream. Post-chaos liminal space where we rebuild reality from a dream state and shape it into form.
Sleep and Wake wrestle into existence…
After a period of obliterating destruction and deep rest…
Finally, a new season.
The cataclysmic storm has passed…And now, one finds oneself, barefooted, grounded, fragile, curious, and brave enough to start again.”

Liz: “Can you describe your ideation process for Barefoot on the Horizon?“
Abstrakt Sonance: “Just like every song on the EP, Sosita gave me a bit of an idea for a vibe that she wanted, and we flowed with it. Barefoot on the Horizon actually started off in a bit of a different vibe and direction, but when she came out with her first verse on the tune, it instantly inspired me to take the beat into a more energetic direction.”
Sosita: “It’s a hype type hymn that aims to cultivate and build up an energy meant to carry us through the next big step with vitality, joy, and optimism.”
Liz: “How did initial concepts or themes evolve from your earliest brainstorming sessions into the final tracks on the EP?”
Abstrakt Sonance: “The brainstorming was minimal to be fair. It was more of a flow state of creativity, and even though each track has a completely unique feel, while the whole EP stays somewhat cohesive, we just went with what felt right and what inspired us in the moment.”
Sosita: “No prep, all flow. 🙂 spur of the moment inspiration! Abstrakt is a pro at what he does! He made the process move so smoothly for me to feel at ease to just hop on the mic. He did amazingly at setting up the studio and arrangements, so I felt supported from A to Z.”
Liz: Sosita, your lyrics and vocal arrangements invoke enriching, tribal-like sensations. What inspired your writing for this EP, and how did you develop your melodies for these songs?
Sosita: “I enjoy primal-like states of being. I opened the EP energy with an ancient Bija Mantra to help me align with the subtle body; those Seed Syllables are said to resonate with the different Chakras. The goal is to awaken and cleanse to help focus inward and cultivate a sense of harmony and balance. The lyrics were inspired by the human experience in a general sense, with a contemplative outlook on it, one that doesn’t seek to judge, but rather, to feel. The melodies came about super naturally, fully inspired by the very engaging compositions that Abstrakt had created for me.”

Liz: Abstrakt, your organic style and limitless production abilities shine throughout each track. In what ways did your approach to producing this EP differ from your earlier projects?
Abstrakt Sonance: “My main focus and goal with this project was to bring to life the instrumentals that Sosita was transcribing to me at the time. A lot of the time, working with singers and vocals, either the vocals are set, and I build off that, or I create something with the intention for vocals, but I never really communicate about the direction. I typically create an onslaught of beats and let the lyricist choose from my catalog. With this project, Sosita and I sat in the studio, and I asked her what she wanted. I slowly started to craft the instrumentals with her in the studio, and evolved them from her input. This is an extremely special piece of art to me, the moment it was created, how it was created, and how we were feeling when we created it.”
Liz: “The collaboration with San Francisco-based artist Matt Milano adds a unique dimension to the project. In what ways did the visual components shape or connect with the music?”
Abstrakt Sonance: “I’ll let Sosita take it away here.”
Sosita: “I felt a special connection to Milano’s artistic style right upon seeing it a few years ago. I immediately thought of him when we were looking into album artwork. The process was super simple: I explained my lyrics and what they represented to him, sent him the full tracks, and a few days later… he’d made some custom drawings that blew my mind. He really got what I was going for, and it reaffirmed the power of our creative connection. He fully got the concepts around what kind of liminal and existential space I wanted to depict.”

Liz: What do you hope listeners will take away from Barefoot on the Horizon, both emotionally and artistically?
Sosita: “I pray they feel an array of sensory activations; from smiles to tears, to singing along, and maybe even dancing to it 😉 Key takeaway is: keep creating!”
Liz: Is there anything further you would like to share, promote, or tell your fans?
Abstrakt Sonance: “CØNTRA and I have a tour starting March 26 at Cervantes in Denver. Check out my Instagram for all the dates on the tour poster so far. All across the USA and Canada. We are still taking bookings, so please hit me up or my agent. I also just launched an organic Matcha line and an organic Lip Balm line. Sosita and I are starting to perform our Barefoot on the Horizon EP, so anyone interested in hearing her beautiful vocals live, please hit me up.”
Sosita: “I am currently completing and working on an advanced certification program in Sound Therapy. Stay on the lookout for therapeutic sonic offerings emerging on social media in the near future, and for one-on-one holistic health sessions- sositakai@proton.me I will definitely keep putting music out into the world, very eager and excited to keep sharing in this format.”

Barefoot On The Horizon is more than a debut collaboration; it is a living document of two artists meeting each other exactly where they needed to be. Abstrakt Sonance and Sosita have created something that defies easy categorisation, rooted in trust, spontaneity, and a shared reverence for the creative process.
As both artists continue to evolve, whether through live performances, sound therapy, or new musical ventures, one thing is clear: this is only the beginning. Barefoot On The Horizon is available now on Morii Records — and if Abstrakt Sonance is coming to a city near you, don’t sleep on it.
