After the recent Grammy nomination for their third studio album, “Solace,” Australian trio RÜFÜS DU SOL announced an upcoming live album, accompanied by a 45-minute cinematic experience.

James Hunt, drummer, said the idea first came to life on a writing trip the band took to Joshua Tree.
We climbed these wild rock formations to a little vista at the top, about 100 feet above where we were writing and sat to take in the sunrise. We were listening to tunes on a speaker and someone put on Time by the Pachanga Boys. Watching dawn break with this epic 15 minute journey playing out, we started joking about putting together a sunrise set in the desert where we would play to no one.

After spending two years perfecting it, the film was finally premiered in Los Angeles this February 18th. The full album and movie will be available on YouTube and other streaming platforms March 6th, but for now you can get a taste of what’s to come and listen to the beautiful live rendition of “Solace” released today.

Although most of the songs already look familiar, it’s safe to assume that “Valley of the Yuccas” will be brand new to all of our ears. And with Mercury retrograde in full swing, we’re pretty sure some new RÜFÜS DU SOL music is exactly what we all need right now.
Continuing their widely renowned Solace tour, they will also be headlining festivals such as Okeechobee, M3F, and a two-night run at Red Rocks Amphitheater. All dates listed below and tickets for purchase here!
