Mysterious producer Maison Ware delves deep into the human conscious with their latest release, the Mind EP, on mau5trap. This two track midtempo EP is full of foreboding basslines and sultry vocals. They recently made their mau5trap debut with “Shibuya” on We Are Friends Vol 9 and this Mind EP is an excellent follow up.
The eponymous first track “Mind” opens with an ominous sequence and then blast full throttle into the dark bassline. The accompanying vocals just add a whole new layer of portents. The drop seems to delve deep into the cavities of your brain, each beat another step further inside.
Next, the second track “Satisfy” switches it up with some dark tech-house. The hypnotic vocal sample “Now you got me” echoes over the oscillating bass notes. While the first track “Mind” seems designed to penetrate inside your brain, ‘Satisfy’ appears to want to drive your body to groove.
The Maison Ware project is an enigmatic experience to process, with releases going back a year. Now that it is has been brought onto the mau5trap family, we are surely going to see big things coming forward.
