Jam-packed without being over-packed, V2 Presents truly packs a punch with their electrifying festival return Das Energi 2021. Their team here in Salt Lake City, Utah was kind enough to invite us over for the weekend and boy did we have a good one.

The reorganization of the stage setup from previous years did wonders for this festival, creating larger spaces for people to enjoy themselves, and making it easier to admire the sun setting on the natural Salt Flats in the process. With a Subcarbon takeover on one day and a Dirtybird party on the next, the second stage brought everything the main stage was missing. This created such a full range experience of electronic music, that everyone got to thoroughly enjoy all weekend.

Day 1

We ran from stage to stage catching the earlier acts like Sidepiece and Subdocta. The sand and the hills did not help as we made a mad dash to Dirt Monkey at Galactic Flats only to dash right back to the Reactor stage to see TroyBoi break it down. He truly threw down the best set of the day, such a mix of genres that were fun to dance to yet the whole set still held on to his unique sound. The only downside is that we missed Rusko to bust a move at the main stage.

Ganja White Night closed out the night with their first festival set back, an honor bestowed upon a worthy stage set up. The amount of DnB they played was absolutely to die for. Not only that, but we ran over to the main stage for the last half hour to find… Kaskade… playing … TECHNO??? What a world we live in truly.

Day 2

The third stage inside The Saltair was filled with smaller acts like Ocelot, IN2GR8 b2b Vertekz, Lazer Kitten, and so many more. Stopping in to see them throw down all weekend in the cool and uncrowded stage inside was great. Such a great opportunity to finally see the small stage at Das Energi in the smallest stage area of the festival. We watched Dirtybird’s own Nala rocked it with her techno/trance heavy set bringing the freshest energy to a bass-heavy day on the salt flats. LSDream was one of the only sets we really managed to sit still for the entire thing for. Not to mention the TWO count ’em TWO INZO collabs that LSDream dropped during his set.

My personal favorite set of the weekend was Jai Wolf‘s DJ Set. It was absolutely everything and more. The lasers and lights so perfectly complimenting the freeform set he composed for us. The lack of visuals adding to the deep and dark set that was a pleasant switch up from his personal shows. Closed off the night with my first ever Illenium set, and immensely enjoyed every second of it.

V2 Presents made a worthy effort for their first festival back. It shows promise to the reorganization of their future shows to make the space they have more usable and enjoyable to hang around in. We can’t wait to see what they have in store for the future, that Get Freaky lineup for their Halloween festival sure looks alluring…

Thanks for a great Das Energi 2021!
