Step into springtime reflection with otherworldly melodies crafted by Comisar.

The first track, “Source,” opens with low twinkling notes that set a perfect introduction for the EP. They shortly turn into a tranquil wave of sound, much like gently sloping meadows. Right as the listener settles into the song, the beat switches up and redemands attention with undulating bass notes. Comisar does a fantastic job throughout the track of maintaining mystery and intrigue, all while setting the tone for the rest of the EP.

Fearless” is the second track. It opens with gentle plucking that is reminiscent of raindrops on a cool, yet humid, spring day. The title is evocative and encourages the listener to step out into the world with their favorite metaphorical raincoat and take on their day. Comisar takes this song a bit slower and a bit deeper, thus giving it a very palpable feeling of introspection.

With a building exposition, the third song titled “Alchemy” claims its throne as the climax of this EP. Soft bird chirping in the first half of the song beckons the mind to think of the immediate post-thunderstorm moment when the sky is dark, yet triumphed by the sunshine. With such a powerful title and bold synths, this song is a formidable addition to Hidden Origins.

Closing out the EP is the fourth and final track, “DNA.” This song is especially dreamlike, with almost angelic vocals layered over a hazy and ruminative tune. The song softly swells to a brassy crescendo with pensive layers and an excellent build. Comisar concludes this EP by gently letting the song fade away, like waves leaving the shore.

Comisar continues to work his magic with each new release, leaving listeners spellbound.

Perfectly moody and full-bodied, Hidden Origins is an excellent testament to Comisar’s vision of using the alchemy of melodic bass music to urge the listener to look inward. Each song is an exceedingly clever length, with angel numbers alluding to Comisar’s inspiration from the magical and mystical. The EP serves as a reminder for the listener that mysticism is inside of us all, if only we know how to look for sunshine after the thunderstorm. Hidden Origins is the perfect balance of brooding and bright. This new EP is a shining and contemplative addition to Comisar’s discography. We cannot wait for you to embark on the journey and explore it yourself.
