Pop punk isn’t dead. And if you thought it was, CŌFRESI just collabed with KOU—the former drummer of fucking the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus—for “Better.”

The track is reminiscent of 2014 melodic dubstep (aka the good old days), with its emotionally-charged lyrics and rhythmic bassline. The vocalist had a few words to say about its meaning.

“Better” is more than a song. It’s a cry for us as human beings to awaken and realize we need love and each other now more than ever.

CŌFRESI and KOU also came together and brought us a moving visual to promote the song and bring awareness to police brutality and the Black Lives Matter movement. You can see cameos from funk heavy-hitters like Maddy O’Neal, Megan Hamilton, and more.

You can hear CŌFRESI’s signature adlibs throughout the song, making it unabashedly his. The track’s buildup takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions. Then, KOU’s pleading vocals comes in and reminds us that with everything going on right now, we need to love and care for the ones closest to us.
