With his second release of 2020, blanke delivers a refreshing twist with his remix of Crooked Colours – “I C Light.” Directly following his bass-heavy collaboration with Black Tiger Sex Machine, “Time Machine,” the Australian producer takes a completely different bearing on this relaxed and melodic remix.
The original track by Crooked Colours relies on throaty vocal and the beat to carry the emotional weight. However, blanke deconstructs the track and adds a gorgeous new melody. He also eases the pace of the track and overlays distortions, all of this creates a trippy, flowing vibe. While blanke is mostly known for bassy-midtempo, on this track he illustrates the same versatility he displayed on his incredible, latest album, the Change and Decay EP. He incorporates complex layers that don’t compete with one another; every sound has a specific purpose. In conclusion, blanke takes an already beautiful track and makes it his own without losing any soul-stirring potency along the way.
