Following up the massive reveal of their new label Altered States, Zeds Dead delivers “Late Night Drive,” the lead single off their forthcoming Catching Z’s mixtape. Announced in celebration of the 5th anniversary of Deadbeats, Altered States diverts from the labels normal bass-heavy lineup, and heads towards a more experimental and downtempo side of music.
Originally a beloved mix series, Catching Z’s gets a modern update to an all original 13 track mixtape as Altered States debut release. First experimenting with a more low-key turned down sound in 2016 with the fan-favorite original mix, Zeds Dead has been hinting at a larger scale iteration of the project for a while now. The full project is due for release on March 26th.
Immaculately blending a serene piano melody with the boys signature swirling bass, “Late Night Drive” is the perfect teaser of what’s to come on the full length tape. Complete with elysian vocals and influences from hip-hop to experimental bass, this cinematic tune is reminiscent of Zeds Dead early style with a fresh twist.
