Post-pandemic, we have seen such an intensive pattern – same lineups, same venues, and the growth of diversity is slow but steady. It is exciting to see new events and lineups, as EDM needs a revamp, especially on the West Coast. This year, we have DESERT AIR in Palm Springs, bringing new energy to so many artists from across the globe with an all-new focus – curiosity, creativity, and collaboration.
The festival is a relatively new event held in Palm Springs, California, that blends music, art, and the desert landscape to create a unique cultural experience. Although the festival has been gaining popularity recently, it’s still somewhat of a hidden gem in the desert scene. Typically held in the fall, it draws a mix of music lovers, art enthusiasts, and those looking to experience the desert vibe with a curated lineup of live performances, visual art installations, and wellness activities.

One of the highlights of Desert Air is its eclectic, genre-blurring lineup. This year, the festival attracts an exciting mix of international and local talent, with performances ranging from indie rock and electronic to experimental and pop. International acts from the UK, Canada, and Europe are making their mark, showcasing the global reach of the indie music scene. So many of the artists playing bring music from overseas, with sets from Anish Kumar, SG LEWIS, Sam Gellaitry, Sammy Virji, Jamie XX, and Shygirl.
Beyond music, Desert Air celebrates visual and interactive art in a way that complements the stunning desert environment. The festival often features art installations that blend seamlessly into the natural landscape, with works that range from large-scale sculptures to multimedia projections. This year, expect to find experimental works from both emerging and established artists, adding an extra layer of depth to the festival experience.
The integration of art and music also creates an immersive atmosphere, allowing festivalgoers to experience multiple forms of creative expression in a single setting. It’s not just about the music—it’s about the feeling of being surrounded by art in a place that’s as visually inspiring as the performances themselves.
