Around a year ago, CloZee released her Neon Jungle album, kicking off a new era in her music and career. Neon Jungle comforted us through the depths of a pandemic summer; all the while, CloZee was working through writer’s block while juggling the same worldwide challenges we all were going through. Her Nouvelle Era EP results from her efforts of the last year and a half, and it’s nothing short of magical.
As a listener, the Nouvelle Era EP provides us with a meditative listening experience, giving us the perfect opportunity to reflect on the last year and how much we’ve grown and prospered through these challenges. Spanning these six tracks, CloZee shows her softer side through introspection, softer soundscapes, and endless emotive melodies.
Immerse yourself in Nouvelle Era
Bathed in magic and delicate and worldly sounds, “Jellyfish” opens up the EP feeling like a warm hug. But then, fleeting bounces up the pace and draws us deeper into the world of “Jellyfish.” In collaboration with MOONZz, “Hold On” is a dreamy track, reaching for hope that is so close. Full of signature CloZee builds and lush melodies, “Hold On” has us basking in self-love and confidence.
The namesake of the EP, “Nouvelle Era,” offers a mind-bending sound design full of synths and bass swells that take on an otherworldly composition. In a perfect juxtaposition and collaboration with Jason Leech, “Farewell” embodies CloZee’s classic organic sound with the perfect amount of bass and emotive underlying swells.
“Brave” bounces in with genre-bending melodies paired with violin flare that transport you deeper into this new sonic dimension she has crafted. Last but not least, “Falling In Love” rounds out the EP with a gentle yet inspiring feel. A sound that pushes us to keep moving forward. Filling the listener with feelings of hope and wonder, it’s the perfect track to round out this explorative EP.
This EP is cathartic in its listening, letting listeners experience every emotion from hope to sadness, to love, to excitement; just about every emotion we have felt in the last year and a half. While things may seem unpredictable again, one thing is for sure, we always have unity through music.
