Known to have one of the strongest acoustic arsenals in the scene, The Widdler is dropping his latest project, Zero-G, on September 6th. With a whopping 43(!) tracks, the Don of Dubstep proves that his creativity knows no bounds. Demonstrating his ability to deliver some of the best sound production, he explores the boundlessness of dubstep. The Widdler combines innovative dub sound and sultry and deep bass lines with precise and hard-hitting percussion. There truly is a track for everybody in this project. As the album release and tour dates approach, lets dive in to the first taste of Zero-G.

“Zero-G”

Ahead of the full September release, there are two tracks currently out. It’s a sonic sneak peek, if you will. “Zero-G” came first on August 23rd. It captures a bit of that OG dub/reggae sound that we love so (so) much. As a pioneer of the genre since the release of the Sensi Samurai EP in 2008, The Widdler has repeatedly shown his ability to manipulate sonic space. Demanding an automatic sway, “Zero-G” weaves together beautiful horns, spooky synths, and basslines that beg the listener to move along. It’s impossible not to dance to this track, and it is the perfect introduction to the project.

“Elements”

Dropping August 30th, “Elements,” the second and final single release offers a different, more introspective look into The Widdlers sound production. This tune is deep and undulating. Incorporating sensual and eerily enchanting vocals, this track pulls the listener in like a sailor to a siren. While “Zero-G” has more of a weighted bounce to it, “Elements” is more likely to put a listener into a trance with its hypnotizing prowess.

The release of these two particular tracks set the stage for the full release on September 6th. While both demonstrate two particular modes of The Widdler’s sound production, the 41 others take the listener through dubstep’s labyrinth. Tune into Electric Hawk on September 6th for a special look into the project from The Widdler himself. Until then, the promo mix is available and tickets for the Zero-G tour are live!
