Celebrating their two year anniversary, the ever-evolving Spun Out brand is hosting a unique and immersive event at Cervantes’ Other Side on December 7th. The gathering will feature interactive art activations and performances from Foxtail, Mikey Thunder, Tygris, Brisco Jones, and more.

Spun Out was founded by Nick Phillips in Denver, Colorado on December 7th, 2023, which is also fittingly National Cotton Candy Day. Ceci Gonzalez Gordon joined the project shortly after, making everything a little sweeter.

At first glance, Spun Out is a playful brand with their very own Cotton Candy, Fairy Floss, but it is so much more than that. Spun Out aims to bring educational, entertaining, and engaging experiences to the music community and beyond. Alongside their mascot, the Floss Boss, their mission creates inclusive spaces for people to explore within, inviting child-like wonder and creative self-expression in many forms.

So, What is Fairy Floss?

Spun Out operates under its parent company, FLOSS. Public Benefit Corporation. They are the creators of Fairy Floss tea and that very special cotton candy. FLOSS. PBC provides transformational experimental offerings and promotes sustainability. A third of their profits are contributed to harm reduction, mental health, a culture of consent, and positive activism for a better tomorrow.

Fairy Floss still spins into that delicious fluffy cloud you get with Cotton Candy, except it’s spun from an alternative to sugar made from sugar beets that actually supports gut health. Traditional cotton candy is made from the most produced crop in the world, sugarcane. The high demand and water intensive process to grow sugarcane has caused deforestation and displacement of indigenous people where it is grown.

The FLOSS. organization and Spun Out project is rooted in the desire to make a difference on the people around them. In their commendable efforts to make positive changes in their community, they ultimately help change the world. It all starts with putting your best foot forward and taking small steps to make an impact on your environment, and the Spun Out crew reminds us of that.

Tea parties where friends gathered to create and share with one another brewed and instilled within us the importance of community. Spun Out uses experiential design as the driving force behind the mission. We believe that immersive experiences have the power to be a portal for transformation, opening up a world full of possibilities. A world that is pink and brightly illuminated, not only by beautiful lights, but also by beautiful souls and their beautiful smiles. A world where ‘feeling’ goes beyond touch, allowing one to feel the vibrancy and liveliness of the space, just as one can feel soft and fuzzy textures. A world where there is always music playing and stories being told. Where sweet scents and aromas fill the air. A world where one can taste transformation and take steps towards the life they want to live.” – Nick & Cece, Spun Out

Spun Out Celebrations at Cervantes

After two years of developing their project, Spun Out is being recognized for the success of their efforts and growth with a party unlike any other. The event will be held at Cervantes’ Other Side and of course, on National Cotton Candy Day. Sugar won’t be the only thing getting spun, as they’ll be musical performances from record scratching madmen Mikey Thunder, Foxtail, Tygris, Brisco Jones, Mr. Fancy Pants, Nooko, and other surprise guests. Expect to dance through the night with these tastemakers in attendance.

Come unleash your inner child and immerse yourself into Spun Out with us! Attendees will be able to make their own Fairy Floss, meet the Floss Boss himself, and catch a vibe in the tea lounge. Capture the magic with pictures in front of the feather wall and feast your eyes upon liquid projections by Cosmic Danny. Analog visuals by Spectrumone will also be on display alongside living art and museum pieces to ponder. The evening is yours to make of it what you will.

By creating fun, interactive, and unique experiences, Spun Out inspires others to do the same. They influence others to take action through pursuing their best selves and connecting with their community. Their brand spotlights wellness practices and local causes that push for change.
