Luhv, an LA-based artist known for soulful genre blends and skilled sound design, makes his return with his new EP, Lotus Blossom. This personal and sonically rich EP dropped late July via ADBC Records, the newly relaunched label created by underground bass icon Great Dane. This eclectic, intentional project marks a synergistic rebirth of both Luhv’s sound and the label itself.

“It represents the growth, the reset, and the new energy I’ve poured into my music,” Luhv shares. “‘Lotus Blossom’ feels like the beginning of a new chapter, both sonically and personally.”

Planting Seeds and Sounds

The seeds of this release trace back to when Luhv first met Great Dane at ICON Collective, where Dane was his Ableton teacher. “He’d host these 10-minute beat battles during office hours, and I’d pull up to every single one,” Luhv recalls.

Their musical paths kept intersecting, as is typical in such tight-knit scenes. In 2022, after both artists relocated to New York, they co-founded Halftime, a monthly event bringing West Coast bass energy to Brooklyn. The show quickly gained traction, featuring artists like jordnmoody, Samsin, and vincebyvince, eventually leading to a Santa Cruz pop-up and even a Japan tour with Kowta.

From mentor to collaborator to close friend, Great Dane remained a constant presence in Luhv’s journey. “So when he hit me up about relaunching ADBC, I was all in,” Luhv says. “My Lotus Blossom EP became the seed to kick off this next chapter.”

Sonic Bloom

Inspired by the symbolic meaning of the lotus (rebirth, healing, and awakening), Luhv took his own evolution and poured it into the EP’s synthesis. After the Japan tour, he took a year-long hiatus from shows to prioritize his health and rebuild his creative foundation.

“The songs on this EP are a direct result of that process,” he shares. “It’s a more refined version of my sound, and a reflection of the work I’ve done behind the scenes.”

Luhv’s signature sound shines through on all four tracks (one of them, “Escape,” being a collab with Kurei!). They weave together tough, sporadic basslines with delicate percussion, soft melodies, and ear candy throughout the run time. There’s a certain spaciousness unique to his production that leaves room for all of the elements in the mix to breathe. It’s a refreshing approach to bass music, a genre that can often veer too dense or aggressively maximal. Lotus Blossom manages to stay grounded while still hitting hard, balancing emotion with energy in a way that feels both refined and intentional.

Luhv press

The timing of this release aligned perfectly with the rebirth of ADBC, making the project’s symbolism even stronger. “I’m honored to help bring the label into this next phase and reestablish it as a staple in the beats and bass scene.”

What’s next for Luhv?

The Lotus Blossom chapter may have just begun, but his momentum is steadily flowing strong. In terms of releases, keep an eye out for his incoming collab with HerShe on August 22nd via Quality Goods, which promises to reveal a new side of his sound. In terms of shows, you can catch him live at Kowta & Friends in Reno on August 15th and in LA on August 31st at a gallery show hosted by TrustMe.Ent, a Hawaiian crew making their debut in the city.

“August’s looking stacked,” he says. “Hope people enjoy the EP, and stay tuned. This is just the beginning.”
