East Coast experimental electronic music producer, Crawdad Sniper, dazzles with his newest EP release. Cleverly named Crustacean Station, this release showcases his affinity for pushing boundaries through dynamic sounds that remain fun, vibrant, and full of unexpected twists. Every song features a different artist that pairs decadently with each track, fully displaying how each pairing is a match made in sonic heaven.
Crawdad Sniper is widely known for his sound, heavily rooted in the experimental. Establishing a reputation of live sets bursting with energy, diversity, and mind-boggling sound design, it’s nearly impossible not to dance when he’s playing. He harnesses the grittiness of trip-hop and blends it seamlessly with deep, undulating basslines. Crustacean Station is an excellent tour of the sounds that Crawdad Sniper can create.

“The Crustacean Station EP is a collection of six collaborations with some of my favorite artists and good homies. The EP is comprised of high-energy, sound design focused bangers, capturing the rhythmic chaos of combining the workflows, strategies, and techniques of the other collaborators involved. The tunes were written between 2023 and 2025. If you’re not hip to any of the collaborators, be sure to go show them support.”

All aboard, we are heading to the Crustacean Station
The first song on the EP is titled “Hyphae” and features the skills of the ever-talented sqonk. The title is interesting, as hyphae are actually long, branch-like filamentous structures commonly found in fungi. One might be more familiar with the name of a collective of hyphae, mycelium. After a fun biology lesson, it’s quite easy to hear how the title connects to the audio. The track opens with almost alien sounds, with layers and layers of chittering notes. Like mycelium, it is easy to envision the notes of this song chattering together. The brief moment of calm talks between hyphae is soon over as hefty bass swings in brazenly. It takes barely any time at all for the track to wind up into a groove full of ripping bass.
Next up with nautical nonsense is a song joined by Optik Sound titled “Bubble Stomp.” Optik Sound shows off his influences of old-school hip-hop with an innovative hand in this song. Listening closely, we can hear bubbles behind a wobbling electronic beat. Gnarly bass bites through the song to certainly burst some bubbles. The beat is impossible to sit still to, as the hip-hop influences slide through the song. Halfway through the song, we get a taste of some grit paired with lighter, popping notes.

Third on the EP is “Gar.” No stranger to heavy-hitting bass, the one and only Togeki joins this song. This song is an absolutely lively shakeup. It leads with a bright and vibrant bouncy tune, full of elastic beats. It’s easy to float along the buoyancy and energy of “Gar.” As the song winds down to an end, it nearly sounds mischievous as it holds the listener’s attention and slinks away!
Crawdad Sniper continues to bring us on a wonky adventure towards the Crustacean Station!

“Plugged In” is the next track of this EP, paired with fellow East Coast sound-smith, Cope Aesthetic. This song is nearly five minutes of eclectic sound design. Electric vibrations transport plucky percussion before soon slipping into notes full of synthy sounds. This song has an attitude, and we aren’t complaining.
Both Tipper ‘n Friends alumni, Maxfield and Crawdad Sniper, collaborate seamlessly on the fifth track, “Git Serious.” This song allows both of their unique auditory styles to not merely just breathe, but flow together in an immersive blend. The song is an intergalactic heavy-hitter. Glitch-laden and full of bass that shakes, the two artists have created a song that demands attention.
Rounding out the EP is “Hi-Fi Snobbery.” Ohio-based Alejo joins the cast of East Coast creatives on Crustacean Station. This song perfectly builds tension and release, starting off slower before snapping into a quicker pace. It slows again shortly after, stretching into a buildup of bass. The beat is thick with intricacies of glitchy sound design. The suspension right before the energy picks up again is tantalizing.

Crustacean Station is a release of back-to-back auditory exploration. It has diverse sound design on each individual song, keeping the entire EP fresh and vibrant. It is a high-octane danceable compilation of music. Each song exemplifies the artist it is paired with, allowing individual styles to shine rather than muddle. Naturally, this was intentionally curated, not just simply thrown together. Crustacean Station is sure to create big waves with its release.
Let loose with absurdity and take euphoria as a dance partner with this EP. The soundscapes created here are curated to be reveled in.
Crawdad Sniper has played festivals such as Seven Stars, Secret Dreams, Submersion, and more on the horizon, such as Camp Kouch! He remains true to his roots of mastering the inexplicable groove. We truly cannot wait to see what comes next.
