Colorado is known for its breathtaking landscapes and thriving underground music scene. That’s why Dystopia Radio and Dead Hound Studios dreamed up SolDance Festival, a three-day music and camping celebration of the summer solstice in San Luis Valley from June 20th through June 22nd.
SolDance Festival is throwing legendary takeovers across two stages with Koja Sound and AKA Productions. There will be healing workshops, phenomenal vendors, wild after parties, and a trailblazing lineup of Colorado local talent. The headlining artists and direct support include some of bass music’s finest producers, including Chmura, Chief Kaya, sfam, CØNTRA, Mfinity, Die By The Sword, Daggz, Saturna, Medicine Place, and many more.

As we lose more intimate festivals due to larger companies taking over the industry, festivals like SolDance aim to keep underground representation alive while creating safe spaces that allow connection and inspiration. The festival founders set out to carefully curate a unique lineup and a positive event where attendees can express themselves free from judgment and dance for a better future in the spirit of the summer solstice.

The Venue
SolDance will be held at the majestic Utopia Festival Grounds in San Luis Valley, Colorado, about four hours south of Denver. Nestled right by the rich Great Sand Dunes, the venue has a scenic 360-degree view of the fourth-highest peak in the state, Mt. Blanca.
Handcrafted by a series of art pieces that symbolize the summer solstice, the Summit Stage will be the festival’s main stage for the weekend. The vibrant design was made to gather everyone on the dancefloor under the mountainous views during the day, and come to life at night with captivating projection mapping.
Known as some of the highest quality sound in Colorado, the pulse-pounding Koja Sound will also be at the Summit Stage. As a properly crafted sound system custom-built with Paraflex subs and Danley tops, Koja Sound provides the ultimate sonic experience.
The Temple Flora Stage, named after influence drawn from the ancient Mesoamerica, will transport attendees to a lush forest-like wonderland. It will also have AKA Productions’ powerful Turbosound system.
The founders of SolDance Festival are working with state officials and have gathered feedback to ensure a safe and enjoyable time. Facilities, medical staff, shade, delicious food services, and free water will be available. Between the crisp speakers, astonishing live sound, sacred energy, yoga, and workshops, SolDance will surely be an adventurous celebration of music, history, and self.
The Lineup
SolDance’s lineup has a diverse range of barrier-breaking acts and proper underground representation. There’s a refreshing blend of Colorado talent, smaller artists, and big names that paved the way for many growing producers in the scene.
Friday at the Summit Mainstage will be a bass barrage of dubstep with a Defy Culture Takeover. The masterful dub slinger, Chief Kaya, will be the night’s headliner with direct support from heavy-hitters, CØNTRA, Medicine Place, Might Delete, Soggy Noize, SPLiT, Dukez, and more.
The Temple Flora Stage will feature a headline from the sorcerer of vibrations, Sheyta, and other sound healers such as SIIRIAN, Sparja, Orbweaver, Shakra, and Revibe. Friday’s after-party hosted by Spella & Friends will keep the night young with genre-bending Denver acts, UndergroundSelekta, Hericane, Mooby, and Flower Bass.
Saturday’s mainstage headline is none other than the spearheading duo, sfam, accompanied by other game-changing experimental acts, Star Monster, Wesley Mack, Quite Possibly, Acyan, and Rainbow Boy. Loads of Colorado-based artists will shell down on the Temple Flora Stage Saturday, including Geezy Dubs b2b Shlop, Dotson, Zipz, Inertia, and many more.
SolDance will wrap up elegantly on Sunday with a Qualia Sound Takeover at the Summit Stage. Mind-bending producers like Chmura, Mfinity, Comisar, Phurn, and Lowcation will grace the decks with their meditative frequencies and bass-heavy beats. Attendees will also be blessed with special sets from rising local stars Furtha, Absnt, and Confidon, amongst many other head-turning acts.

Amongst all this magic, there will also be electrifying flow artists, such as Stephanie Brown, who will be doing a fire and aerial workshop. Let your artistic side shine with body painters like Beekind Bodypaint and unreal vendors, including the fascinating glass blower AJ Melts.
