Fall into the sonic journey that Hypnos offers
If you are not familiar with the brilliance that arrives when the duo Alicia Kiah and Kursa come together, Hypnos is a prime example. Immediately, we succumb to the tranquil soundscapes from Alicia Kiah and her masterful violin melodies in “The Duke.” Which later on transitions into the dark grooves of exploration in the second half of the track. And if you step further into the album, you hear the haunting beauty of the two, especially in “Bubble Grape.” Now pushing our attention to our two favorite tracks, “Altoids” and “Jupiter.”
Through the depths, “Altoids” wraps us into a deep trance state. Our bodies swaying along to the chilling, dark melodic tones. The eerie chimes echo in the distance as the murky basslines pound through the heavy atmosphere. At this point, we are fully under the mesmerizing Snoozi spell. Then, as we approach “Jupiter,” all our senses are elevated. With daunting tension building from the get-go, we feel the spine-chilling atmosphere entangling us until we are snapped away. No awareness that we’ve been holding our breath until the drop. This time, our body follows the distortion and metallic sonics surrounding us.
And to ease us awake from our state, Snoozi beautifully crafts “Echolocation” to ascend us back into reality. The soft and soothing closure to Hypnos, perfectly wraps their debut and really emulates the diversity that Snoozi can bring to everyone.
