For his first release of 2020, Denver-based producer DISSOLVES unveils his configuration of the Skrillex classic, “Weekends” ft. Sirah. After rolling the clock back a decade, DISSOLVES modernizes the electro-house anthem. The result is a hard-hitting midtempo track that loses none of the original’s potency while adding a refreshing twist.

Skrillex has been a big inspiration of mine and for years I’ve always wanted to share my interpretation of how his music, his vision, and even his personality has influenced my life. This configuration is something I’m really proud of, and it’s only a tiny glimpse of all the new music that’s gonna come out in 2020.” – DISSOLVES

Opening up with a suspenseful orchestral drum sequence, DISSOLVES’ configuration of “Weekends” liberates all that pent-up energy. Because of this, the listener just wants to get up and move. The chopped vocals interspersed throughout the track pay homage to Skrillex’s style. The original song is clearly for the dance floor but this bass-heavy configuration screams headbanging on the rail. DISSOLVES is most well-known for his fluid style across genres like old-school dubstep and futuristic midtempo. Many of his tracks have been supported some of bass music’s pioneers like Zeds Dead & Borgore.

His high-energy revamp of “Weekends” is a really strong start to 2020. As a result, one can only speculate on what else DISSOLVES has in his arsenal for the rest of the year. In conclusion, this bass-fueled configuration is definitely one to keep your eyes and ears out for this year’s festival circuit.
