With a wide range of genres under his belt, Shreztah continues his 2024 momentum with “Hypnogenesis” via SUM R&R on May 6th. The DC-based producer is known for his high-tempo production, and supporting sets for artists like Visages and Dirt Monkey. Consistently exemplifying his love for DnB and dub, Shreztah serves the underground with the roaring jungle and break-beat heater.

“Hypnogenesis” is a hard-hitting dubstep banger at 145 bpm incorporating the eclectic influence of old-school breaks and 90’s rave culture. This track encapsulates the listener into an atmosphere with elements of jungle, dub, rave stabs, & hoovers that are brought together with tasteful glitch and rewind effects.”

Aside from today’s SUM R&R release, Shreztah has established himself one label at a time, working with some of the greatest names in the game. After his single inclusion on the recent Para Presents compilation, Paranormal Sounds Vol II, he quickly served fans with Rubble Dub/Slellow Yime EP via Soundz Organic. No matter where his music finds a home, his rolling DnB, dub combo is hard to miss.

“I have a large amount of musical influences across the board; inside and outside of the electronic music scene. But, I typically gravitate toward genres like jungle, 140BPM, 160BPM, garage, techno, DNB, and halftime. I also find influence from genres outside of EDM,  like Reggae, Indie, Punk, and Neo Psychedelic Rock. I’m really inspired by and enjoy bands such as Cage The Elephant, Arctic Monkeys, and Pond, as well as some LoFi Hip Hop sprinkled in.”

Aside from releases, Shreztah’s been sweeping through some of our favorite festivals within the US. The passion poured into his sets stands out, possibly attributed to the inspiration to build his career after experiencing festivals for himself. On an unstoppable streak in 2023, he hit festivals like Sound Haven, Fire Lights, and Autumn Revival. Plus, some of the biggest venues on the East Coast like Verge and Flash DC

“I was inspired to begin my music career after going to some of my first shows and festivals in 2016/17 and experiencing that world for the first time. I wanted to be a part of something like that, something that’s greater than me alone. I started as a riddim kid, and quickly found interest in the more experimental side of bass music. I would find tracks on Soundcloud, share them with friends, and play them at parties. Eventually, I started playing events that either my friends or I would put on and the rest is history. It’s been a crazy experience and I’ve met some amazing people along the way. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.”

Shreztah continues to bring his dream to life, fostering a mission to showcase the underrated sub-genres of bass music. From jungle to halftime, to techno, his sets leave a lasting impression. Between performances and releases, Shreztah’s genre diversity and distinct sound demonstrate what audiences really need to expand their musical senses.

“My music is a chance to express myself through sound. It’s meant to give people the same deep experience that I’ve obtained through music. Also, I want to show people a different and underrepresented side of the bass music scene. A good portion of the tunes I play in my DJ sets are those I hope people never heard before. I love giving people’s ears what they need, not what they want.”
