Liquid DnB Nostalgia Within Tygris’ Shadow Box

Shadow Box EP cover art

Fusing classical elements with drum & bass, Tygris serves fans the Shadow Box EP released on The Rust Music on April 30th. The diverse producer and turntablist has claimed his place with innovative incorporation of hip-hop and classical, into genres like halftime and experimental. Following the creative single release, “Heist,” Tygris presents a four-track body of emotive frequencies while staying true to the liquid DnB subgenre.

“When listened to from start to finish, the EP is intended to take the listener on a ride through past emotions from a birds-eye view, dealing with the melancholic feelings of absent emotions, as well as the warm embrace of nostalgia.”

The first released single, “Stay, captivates listeners, beginning Shadow Box with melodic strings and immersive sampling. Its liquid DnB foundation carries throughout the project, showcasing cohesiveness and high-tempo flow. “Niteowl” introduces a darker realm to the mix, with continuous melody from hints of piano keys. The mellow guidance of “Docile” evokes ethereal, airy feels accompanied by electrifying synths. The liquid DnB journey of reflection concludes with “Shadows, a track defined by nostalgic sampling and depth.
