Happy Monday birbs – this week, we have a treat for ya! If you’re in the NYC area this August 28th, consider this an invite to The Resurgence, a night of nasty bass and big homie vibes to spotlight rising stars of the underground electronic scene. Headlined by Vibe Emissions, you know it’s about to be a party!
This set is sure to have you ridin’ dirty in the club.
This weekend, we get a heavy, heavy dose of just straight-up vibes! A long-time Electric Hawk favorite, Bryce Herlong, known as Vibe Emissions comes to absolutely wreck New York. Having recently taken the stage at Sound Haven, you know he’s coming through with the gas!
This will be my first live Vibe Emissions set, and to say I’m excited is a gross understatement. Constantly pushing boundaries in his work, he steps outside his typical range to explore and experiment with an array of sounds. If you’ve kept up with his Ridin’ Music series, you may have an idea of what we’re in for. Able to bring the heat with his 140 beats, he also steps outside that realm and fuses other elements attests to his versatility in music curation.
Sweet Sounds Collective and CLINIK Productions have really shown out in bringing you an eclectic night of… Well, sweet sounds. Taking place at Mercury Lounge, get ready for some dubstep, melodic bass, trap music, and more! Best of all, this will be an intimate feel, and one for the masses.
Locals, underground favorites, and immaculate vibes!
First up, we’ve got some local underground talent, MAVIC, going back-to-back with ANGEL DVST. Both are sure to get you pumped up with some dubstep and set the tone for the night. Be sure to see what they’ve got; based off of their mixes, it’s about to get crazy right off the bat.
After a spicy first course, we’ve got something to help cradle you down. We’ve got New York native, Portyl who brings us all the feels with some lowkey melodic bass. Drawing inspiration from Odesza, we can expect serene soundscapes and for you to transcend in the crowd.
Next up, we get a healthy serving of trap music. LA-based artist Elder Bass pulls up with the nasty trap beats, heavy on the bass. Able to deliver those aptly placed basslines and marvelous vocals, he gives our ears that crispy McDonald’s Sprite jolt.
Then, another local favorite, Smokestax comes through with a diverse range of sounds. Focusing on that alien bounce sound, he’s bound to give you some wonky vibes as well as other midtempo dubs and experimental bass elements. I’ve even heard some house vibes. Who knows what we can expect, but know it’ll have you on your toes.
A night like this wouldn’t be complete without some true sounds to the soul. Bringing the high-end frequencies is none other than NGHTOWL. Hailing from Denver, CO, he crafts raw emotion into his music, hoping to touch the hearts of his listeners. NGHTOWL will take you on a journey of passion and bass.
VJs who will melt your minds
A show would never be complete without the masterminds behind the visual component of this immersive experience. And whew! they do not disappoint in the slightest: We got kill will, a Brooklyn transplant who is sure to saturate our eyeballs with some insane visuals.
Joining him will be Trippy Takes, who has recently been blowing up on the live stream side of things. The Chicago-based VJ will 10/10 make you trip out with his insane optic illusions.
Included in this night of debauchery is none other than Extro Spection. The LA-based video artist, also known as Bobbie Bunn, is coming to open your third eye. Working on her skills to perfectly time live visual performances, she is sure to deliver us an otherwordly visual experience.
A Spotlight for the Community
If you’re not familiar with either collaborative groups, I highly recommend looking into them. They are a Hub of like-minded individuals who seek to connect with other creatives, help them expand their skills, and provide resources to help them achieve their vision.
We absolutely love this commitment to the underground and its members. This ties with Electric Hawk’s own mission statement and ideals: built by the community, for the community. Moreover, this helps push the status quo to give more power and reward to the creatives directly.
After all, they are making this art for us. Why would you not fairly compensate them?
See you there!
It’s going to be a great time for all the homies and if you’re looking for something to do, come through, bring friends. You will most likely make new ones there too. Remember, we’re all friends here, and we all came for the art.
Don’t forget to cop tickets here, they’re sure to go fast like hotcakes!
