We have been constantly impressed with Rome in Silver and his new single “Like You” doesn’t change that. In fact, it makes it even more true. Out on bitbird, “Like You” comes paired with a video to communicate the masterful creativity of the Southern Californian producer.
Rome in Silver taking inspiration from Bonobo = automatic listen for us.
I was in Palm Springs listening to a ton of Bonobo records back to back. I wanted to create something similar by using organic, world-influenced sounds but with my own flavor and this was the end result. Everything was based around that vocal phrase and the kalimba [instrument]. Once I had a good drum groove going along with those, I sent it to my friend Harvey who helped me shape the structure of the song and add some melodies underneath.
Rome In Silver
After beginning 2021 with “Colorblind” featuring Russian multi-instrumentalist and singer/songwriter Biicla, Rome in Silver’s second release of the year comes paired with a music video that evokes a sense of wanderlust paired with the dreamy, atmospheric sounds of “Like You.”
The music video features a forest dweller in search of an ancient artifact. Stopping at nothing to retrieve this artifact, she eventually finds her way to a mysterious grotto where the item is found. No spoilers here – you have to watch to see why the forest dweller is so determined to find the mysterious item.
Laden with symbolism, Rome in Silver hopes that those who watch the video feel that it is “as close to a feature film as possible – something that you’d go to the theater with all your friends to see. Working closely with Brandon aka DNZ Media, we were able to bring the vision to life for my very first music video.“
