Alabama native Ian Evans, better known as MIZE, is a new breed of bass musician. Originally pumping out masterful mixes as well as high-powered edits under the moniker ianqt, he changed his name to MIZE in 2017 to honor his late grandmother and reflect his progression as an artist. Inspired by his love for everything from early 2000’s rap, to trance, his music is a unique melting pot that blends all his favorite influences into one.

REFRACTION was one of those rare fleeting moments when I sit down in the studio and EVERYTHING just starts falling into place with what feels like no effort. This song is very special to me, as it’s a vibe I’ve been trying to nail since I started my project, and it poured from me out of seemingly nowhere. This is a tune I’ll be rinsing almost every set for years to come.

Listeners were first gifted a preview of “REFRACTION” on MIZE’s self-released all-original mix of the same title, “REFRACTIONS.” Melding left-field with classic dubstep influences, Evans takes his fans on a sonic journey laden with space-age melodies and his distinct sound design. We are ecstatic to be able to watch MIZE grow as an artist, and are ever eager to see what he and WAKAAN have in store for us next.
