All the homies are chanting Lab Group, Lab Group, Lab Group today, and rightfully so. The debut EP Lab Group I just dropped, and it was well worth the wait.

The two minds of bass music’s favorites, CharlestheFirst and Potions, come together to create Lab Group. The perfect showcasing of each artist’s signature style, meshing together with ease. Truly a duo made in heaven. We’ve seen these two on stages as Lab Group before, as well as hearing their LG01MIX; fans have been situated at the edge of their seat, waiting for this moment. Now we finally get to sink our teeth into a FULL EP! EIGHT whole tracks! Spoiled is an understatement to how we’re feeling right now.

Lab Group Til I Die

We’ve been getting glimpses of this EP for a while now, and needless to say, expectations were high. But, somehow, Lab Group were still able to blow all those expectations out of the water. Kicking things off properly with “Trapped in LA,” the boys joined together with Tsuruda and Player Dave for a lethal combination of talent and poise. Other notable album features are “Space For Me” and “Ignorant Haiku,” featuring tiedye ky. Both tracks are excellent in their own unique ways. Basically, if tiedye ky and Lab Group together is wrong, we don’t want to be right.

A few other momentous EP moments, “Old Ways” featuring hawk. Recorded in one take, the flow on this track is smooth and undeniably compelling. “Banshee” was the very first taste we got of this EP. Its bouncy bass and instrumental ending honed in on all our Lab Group cravings. Then a personal favorite, “Nightshift,” truly left me not knowing how to act. Finally, closing out the EP is “Camouflage,” where each Lab Group member got to flex what they do best. A superior ending to one of our favorite releases of 2021 so far. Calling my tattoo artist now to schedule my “Lab Group til I die” tattoo appointment for next week.

CharlestheFirst and Potions: we hope you guys have the best Thursday ever you deserve it, kings.
